"We are socialized to gender norms and masculinity models since our childhood. Through social interactions at multiple levels we learn these norms but also contribute to perpetuating or challenging them.  National contexts play a key role: structural opportunities and cultural orientations shape how these dynamics occur. This report provides an overview of European contexts of socialization into (anti-)democratic masculinities and can help not only understand the differences and commonalities across Europe, but also what types of intervention can foster socialization into more democratic gender norms." - Vera Lomazzi, University of Bergamo

How are we socialized into (anti)democratic gender norms? MEN4DEM's new report, European Contexts of Socialization into (anti-)Democratic Masculinities, explores how socialization is a multidimensional process that requires to be analysed carefully, unpacking its multiple and intersecting dimensions.

The report selected the most relevant and up-to-date indicators from multiple sources and combined them to provide a detailed picture of similarities and differences among the EU27. It offers a widely encompassing and thorough overview of the contexts of socialization into (anti)democratic gender norms, by combining a variety of indicators.
