Haris Papageorgiou is Research Director at the Institute for Language and Speech Processing (ILSP) of ATHENA Research Center (www.athenarc.gr). He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science and a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering. He was the coordinator of the Technical Committee and Technical Operations Manager of the national Language Resources and Technologies Infrastructure clarin:el (www.clarin.gr), which is the Greek part of the European infrastructure CLARIN (www.clarin.eu), making language resources, technology and know-how available to research communities in the humanities and social sciences. Dr. Papageorgiou has worked as an expert in several aspects of STI (Science, Technology and Innovation) Policy analysis in the context of evaluation and assessment of R&I programmes and policies. He has served as a scientific officer in more than 50 European and national projects in various fields, including computational social and life sciences. He specialises in Artificial Intelligence, knowledge discovery and representation, machine/deep learning, knowledge mining and natural language processing, where he has published more than 130 scientific papers.
